FAQs
Who could use a personal chef?
In short, everyone! My role is to make sure that you always have convenient, nourishing meals on hand, which makes healthful eating the easy choice. Consistently eating well then becomes a long-term investment in your health and vitality. In the meantime, you’re gaining a significant amount of time and energy each week by cutting down on grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning. My clients also find that they spend significantly less money on take-out and convenience foods when they already have wholesome meals and snacks.
The clients that I’ve worked with most are busy professionals, families with young children, people with chronic health conditions or food intolerances, and postpartum mothers.
How does a typical cook day work?
I’ll arrive at your home at 9 am, groceries in hand. You do not need to be home, although you’re very welcome to be! It is absolutely okay to be in and out of the kitchen. I’ll get to work cooking your menu, which typically takes 4-6 hours. Once I’m done, I package your food in clearly labeled glass containers, store them in your refrigerator or freezer, and leave your kitchen spotless. You can expect have four generous portions of each menu item unless otherwise requested.
What is the cost of service?
service fee + cost of ingredients = total cost
My service fee ranges from $400-$600/cook day depending on your preferred number of menu items and the size of your household. This fee includes menu planning, correspondence, shopping, transportation, cooking, and cleaning. Contact me to learn more about pricing! I take on both weekly and every-other-week clients.
What kinds of ingredients do you use?
I am proud to focus on whole, seasonal, and organic ingredients in my cooking. As a rule, I use:
pasture-raised, grass-fed and/or organic meats, eggs and dairy products
unrefined and organic olive, avocado, and coconut oils and grass-fed butter
organic and seasonal produce
organic whole grains, nuts, and seeds
unrefined salts and organic spices
I also package food in glass containers and use non-toxic cleaning products to ensure that you aren’t getting any funky chemicals in with your food.
Will you cook for a particular diet?
I believe that consistently eating unprocessed, nutrient-dense and seasonal foods is the most impactful way to support your physical health. It’s a sure-fire way to avoid ingredients that harm your body while also giving it the richest and most varied sources of nourishment possible.
In this way, I can appreciate many different ways of eating, as long the ingredients used are high-quality. I’ve cooked for many diets and food sensitivities, including:
Omnivore
Pescatarian
Vegan/vegetarian
Paleo
Anti-Inflammatory
Low-FODMAP
